These herbal medicines have Rasayan (Rejuvenation) and Vajeekaran (revitalization) properties. Formulated medicine like Kalpa, prepared by using these sweet taste herbs and sugar, are easy and convenient for the woman to take. These formulations are prepared from decoction of the above herbal medicines and are processed in sugar syrup to attain the powder form known as ‘Kalpa’.  Kalpa, which can be prepared at home or are available in the market. Such prepared kalpa along with milk twice daily is suggested in the 2nd month for development and functioning of reproductive system of the foetus. Milk medicated with sweet taste herbs boiled with pure gold ring in it, served in silver glass should be consumed by the pregnant woman. Silver and gold remove toxins from the body and act as a catalyst to enhance immunity. But milk kept in the silver ware for longer duration may spoil the milk.

According to the ‘Principle of Similarity’, plenty of liquid diet like soup, porridge, fruit juice, buttermilk, sharbat, peya (gruel), yush (Soup of green gram), milk and coconut water nourishes the embryo of 2nd month.

Punsavan Sanskara

Ancient scriptures have depicted Punsavan Sanskara as one of the 16 Sanskara. Punsavan Sanskara is putting certain nasal Ayurvedic medicine drops for overall growth and development of the foetus. The pituitary gland is one of the important endocrinal glands situated at the base of the brain. It controls and regulates other hormonal glands. It also regulates our emotions (fear, rage and pleasure), temperature, hunger, and thirst. As pituitary gland development begins 45 days post conception, Punsavan Sanskara is performed in the 2nd month for hormonal balancing, which results in healthy and intelligent growth of the foetus. On the auspicious moment in the 2nd month of pregnancy, Nasya (nasal drops) of few drops of certain Ayurvedic medicine is done in the pregnant woman. There are several benefits of Punsavan Sanskara, in the mean time, apart from other benefits; Punsavan Sanskara is mainly conducted for desired sex of the child. Development of foetal heart in the 4th month of pregnancy and foeto- placental circulation is also benefited from Punsavan Sanskara. Diseases related with hormonal imbalance or family history of hormonal imbalance can be prevented by Punsavan Sanskara.
